The inspiration for Modern Chain Maille comes from the fabulous Middle East, the Knights Templar, the Crusades, the mystery and myths of the Knights of The Round Table, Camelot, the Ottoman and Viking Empires, the Byzantine era of the Mongol Empire, the Tartars, Genghis Kahn and his grandson Kublai Khan.
This period in history brought us European, Persian and Oriental Chain Maille Weaves, today we have many new hybrid weaves being developed with the terms chain mail, and chainmail also being used.
